Hey all,
Started fishing about 8 p.m.. Tried one of those circle hooks to try and counter the stocker's habit of swallowing the hook. They still swallowed the hook, but it was MUCH easier to remove. Think I'll try a size larger next time( I used a size 8). Caught my personal limit(2 fish) by 8:30 and switched to a small black un-weighted Pan fish jig soaked in worm oil underneath a lit-up bobber. The weather may have been cool but the fishing was red hot. There was a little chop on the water which gave the jig a bit of much needed animation, and the trout went nuts. Caught a released a gazillion small stockers until I got bored with it at about 10:00. I then switched to the "Wunder Bat Jr." and tipped the jig with a bit of nightcrawler. Raised hell with the Rock Bass until I called it a night at about 2 a.m.
All the fish were small, but all had severely swollen stomachs. One of the observations I've made concerning Rock Bass, as well as the Trout, is that the bigger fish tend to shy from the bite on cloudless nights. At least as far as shore fishing goes. I guess until the weather warms up I'm not inclined to stray too far from the campfire.
