Had some time after church to head over to Green Lake. In the past, lugging both spinning and fly rods was a hassle...kayak had limited space and seemed crowded with both kinds of gear. Decided today to go exclusively with the fly rod. I've had success in the past trolling with the fly so I thought I'd try it again today. First half hour was slow but then I got a nice 10" rainbow. Then it was slow for an hour until I found a rock bass den. Pulled out 8 small ones from there, all under 6 inches. Really small, but fun on the fly rod. Then on the way back to shore, I left my fly in the water (which by now is all chewed up from getting bitten) and I hook up with another rainbow! I didn't even realize it was on my line until I heard a splashing noise coming from behind me. Pulled it in half way to the boat and it shook out the hook. Oh well, I call it a long-distance release. For a while I was the only boat on the water and then a couple of canoes and kayaks made an appearance. The NE T-dock was packed with fishermen for most of the evening. Didn't see any fish pulled in. Nothing huge caught today, but consistent action made it really fun. Sorry, the picture didn't turn out too clear. I tried a different view other than my boring fish in the net photo. Tight Lines!
