Well, last trip of the year as the lake closes on Oct 31st. Nothing short of spectacular. Two Browns, three rainbows, one crappie, one bass, and one huge bass lost (broke my 4lb pound test). As I predicted with my last report, trolling is the key. A medium speed trolling with a Dick Night (either bronze or bronze and orange) was the best bet. Also, a Henley's special fly or a small floating Rapala in a rainbow trout pattern will also work. Lots of bites also. Ignore the left side of the lake (as you are looking from the docks). Stick with the far right side of the lake. Hug the bayous and then swing it out. The Browns seem to be more toward the dock side. If you want to bass fish the hit the pads on the same side on the far end by the inlet and docks. HUGE bass swarming all over. Sneak up and use a small silver/black Rebel Popper. In the few minutes I used mine I had it pushed around by some lunkers before landing a small one and losing it to what I feel was at least a 4lb +!
bucketmouth. Almost had him boated but he turned and snapped my 4lb test. Oh well, good luck. Lake closes soon. I can not wait to get back in the spring. Any questions, email me at sekotsjds@comcast.net
