Kapowsin Lake Report

Largemouth Bass

Today would be a zero if I had the option. Fished early for 3 hours or a little more to no avail, not even a peck.

I was so disinterested, to be honest, that I never even took my depth finder out to get a water temp.

Sorry but I had a great day for Largemouth. I threw flies and even caught them along with what else was in the boat

Kapowsin must have a lot of very big largemouth but they always seem difficult to catch. I think maybe it is because they have so much to eat in the lake that they mostly thumb their noses at lures.

I was raised just a couple miles from Kapowsin Lake and have seriously bass fished it for 35 years. And I still say it can be one of the most frustrating lakes to catch quality bass in. Its not that they're not there. They are. But I've always believed the reason they're tough to catch is they're tough to find. There is just so danged much cover in that lake. The fish can be anywhere. And all the wood on and near the surface makes it even tougher. I used to know where almost every stump and log was in that lake. Then they logged it. Now I bounce around like a ball in a pinball machine. I usually opt for Ohop now. That lake has some slabs.,

My saying is... There is no bad cast at Kapowsin, no matter where you cast your always on some kind of structure. It is a crazy lake for sure. It is late to warm, and has way too much cover. If I could only find the fish in cold/bad weather I would be happy.
