Well, after reading the report earlier this week on Goose I decided to head up there with my son. We made it about 3/4 of the way there when we suddenly came upon two vehicles that were stopped in the middle of the road. At first we thought that they were having car troubles but then realized that they were unable to go any further. There are still 2 to 3 foot snow drifts in the road that are impassable(sp?), at least if you are pulling a small boat trailer. I have a 4WD 4Runner and I thought I could get through it but as soon as I started onto the snow I realized that it was a lost cause. Even with the truck in Low 4 I was soon spinning my tires and almost was unable to back out again.
If you are even thinking of heading that way I strongly encourage you to forget the trailer and put your boat inside or on top of your truck. Otherwise you will likely just be burning gas for nothing, and end up turning back as we did. The frustrating part was, I bought one of those one day forest passes and didn't even get to use it! Oh well, better to have it and not need it than to not have it and get a hefty fine!
Tight lines my fishing friends! Maybe next time I'll have a better report, but I'm going to give a awhile until I hear that the stocking truck was actually able to make it to the lake. That snow is going to take a good couple of weeks of warm weather to clear enough to make it there.
