Up early and on the lake at 5:25 AM. Raining lightly and overcast as I launched my small boat -- but there was no wind and the water surface was flat as a mirror. My rig was the first at the public access. Later a couple more boats showed up and trolled for trout -- and several trout anglers set up for shoreline fishing. I lost a nice fish early right at the boat when he shook the Rapala. I then went quite a long time before boating a bass. I won't bore you with the details of how many bass I caught or how big they were but at least I didn't get completely skunked. "Bass Dude" (Jerry) came up to Wildcat Lake with his float tube and he hooked up with a few nice bass. Jerry is a float tube expert -- I was amazed how well he can fish a good sized lake like Wildcat from the tube. We had a nice chat about bass fishing in many of the local lakes. Over all it was a very nice day on the water and we even got a peek at the beautiful Olympic Mountain tops from the lake.
