My son James and I fished Cassidy today. I was excited to fish this lake as I know it has some quality fish and lot's of great bass habitat, so I had high hopes of getting James into a quality fish.

We started at 6am and worked counterclockwise around the lake. The first couple hours I worked hard with surface baits such as frogs, hula poppers, and stick baits. Every cast was into fishy looking cover and every cast was the same - nada. I switched up as the day progressed to try spinnerbaits, floating rapalas, some plastics, and crankbaits. I even worked offshore in 10-14 ft of water with a football jig dragged slow. Again, nada.

James was fine, he seemed to just enjoy hanging and being with dad, which was nice. No questions at all about "are we done yet"?

I really want to learn this lake and get into some fish! It's an easy drive from my home, I really like the peacefulness of the place, and I KNOW there are some pigs in there. It's just a matter of figuring the lake out. So your advice is appreciated AND I may have to do a forum "fishing buddy request" of someone that has had success on this lake and is willing to share some pointers!

Oh, my new Bass Pro Shops micro guide rod worked fine but the spare reel (a piece o junk) crapped out on me early. Good news, when I got home the reel I ordered was waiting for me, yes!

Haha, you sound like me and probably just about all others on here when they make an order. I know that I cannot wait for it to get to me and then when I get it I cannot wait to get out and try it. Bass Pro is awesome as is Tackle Warehouse.com

Hey Mike. Did you happen to see a yellow sot kayak on the lake around 10:30-1:00? That was me. had 2 hits in that time and one was a 3lb LMB c&r'd. Lake has been slow and is still up about a foot or so. Fish & Wiildlife has been out taking surveys and they confirm that. Wacky styled the whole time. Live less than 5 min from lake.

Yes, I saw your kayak. By the time we got around to that side of the lake I figured we had flogged the dead horse long enough and called it a day. I talked to the fisheries biolgis that was surveying the lake, he concurred - slow. So good job getting one.

Mike, I'll offer my 2 cents.....I fished Cassidy on Friday 6/24 and C&R'd 7 bass...a 3 pounder and some others from 1 to 2 pounds...all of mine came right on the bank near cover or under docks - patiently dead sticking rubber worms. I can understand how Monday fishing there would be tough. There must have been 30+ boats in and out on Sunday, and possibly even more on Saturday. This lake gets a ton of weekend pressure, so I try to fish it mid or late week when possible. But the high water sure gives those bass many places to feed that are basically unfishable. Try Cassidy again in the near future - the fishing will get better as the Summer goes on and the water goes down. PS. did you see the bald eagle? I got within 50 feet of it on the south end and filmed it as it perched in a dead tree - and them flew off.......cool!

Last time I fished Cassidy there was a 10 horsepower limit for outboard engines. That must be gone if you fished it with that big engine of yours. Oh, yes, the last time I fished there I caught a 4-2 on a white spinnerbait. She was released but has long ago gone to "Bass Heaven." That was back on October 1st 1983.

thanks guys. Hawgs On, I appreciate that info, it gives me hope, LOL. As to the engine question, I think it needs clarification. The sign has a speed limit 8mph, 10 HP motor. To me, that means you can't run anything bigger than a 10 HP motor, not that you can't go on the water with it. I think they threw in the 10 HP to make sure people don't "accidently" go over 8 mph. But I will try to get the official word. The fisheries biologist I met there said that was his understanding from talking with WDFW people. He was motoring around with a 40 HP motor...

I found the ordinance and to me it doesn't say you can't have the larger motor, only that you can't "propel" the boat with it:
"12.08.020 Motorboats permitted -- restricted speed and power.
Due to the potential interference with other water uses and danger of impact and wake damage on smaller lakes, the maximum speed of any motorboat on the following lakes and on any lake listed in SCC 12.08.030 is restricted to eight miles per hour and the maximum power used to propel any motorboat on any such lake is restricted to 10 certified OBC horsepower"

I live close to cassidy and tried a few times to get one of the big ones that live there. Only managed a couple 2pounders on mini strike kings. I only bass fish a few time a year though and i was there in august. good luck to all.

I hit up old Cassidy a couple of times this week, only thing going was some dinker perch, can anyone direct me to where the larger perch and or crappie are located?

I have about had it with this lake been out three times fished the dock caught 1 crappie and some small purch help whats the secret
