My son and I had a fun afternoon and evening Saturday. We left Spokane about 3:30 pm and went up to the DNR launch near the Long Lake dam. We fished the opposite shore for a while and as the sun was going down fished the near shore. My son hooked into a number of smallies and brought home two for a meal. He was forced to make two green 4-inch senkos last all afternoon and evening, and he almost did it losing the last bit about 8:30 pm. Had I remembered to load the pouch I had prepared with all the other plastics I would report how well I did. However, I forgot it. So I fished with a variety of flies and worms. I did get quite a few nibbles, but I didn't hook anything until about 9:00 pm. I caught one mid-sized yellow perch that will go with the smallies in a meal. Weather, companionship, and the activity were great!
