Went out with Melanie to fish Summit after reading a late June report on some good Koke fishing. We caught 3 kokes until 10:00 a.m. when the bite dropped off.One 12+, 11 and 10 inches. All caught on spoons, gold triple teasers behind a silver hammered sepps dodger.Average speed on hits, approx. 1.4 mile an hour.30 to 40 ft. down on the 'rigger 50 to 60 ft,. of water. We also caught 5 trout all but one were fairly covered in open sores from copopods, really gross. After 4th of July the trout are really covered in these sores.State biologists tell me that big holdover trout don't survive in his lake because it is deep and cold(!), I totally disagree, we have lots of cold deep lakes that trout survive in, but these parasites would def. kill fish as they become more infested year to year.I've never caught a red meat holdover trout more then a pound or two, and I fished this lake pretty heavily for a number of years.Too bad as this is a nice clean lake that people use for drinking water, with a speed limit untill 11:00A.M. to keep the water skiers and jet skis out of your way. I've noticed in years past a parasite on the salmon's gills but they look O.K. this year, fat fish, healthy and tasty. The trout on the other hand were catch and release except a couple that weren't too bad that I cooked for our dog( they were hooked too deep to release anyway). Good fighting fish, I will be back on Thursday with a friend,if the rain holds off! Bob R

We fished it in late June and caught most off the kokanee in 35 feet of water! Usually we fish water 60-80, but they were shallow when we were there. The rainbow we caught had sores then also. The cutthroat did not however. Rainbow and cutts were released.

"The cutthroat did not however."
I have noticed that hatchery reared rainbow stockers in lowland lakes are especially susceptible to skin parasites, likely because of the cramped conditions they were raised in. Generally, cutthroats are native and not planted, while kokanee are planted as fry, giving copepods less time to infest the population.
