Made the trip to Riffe. Met my uncle at the mossrock launch at around 8:15. We were a little skeptical about the day due to the large whitecaps and promising rain, decided to go for it anyway. Found a little shelter from the wind in the Swofford pond area so we did some drifting with the wind. Started picking up fish pretty quik. Uncle was using chartruese wedding ring on the surface tipped with salad shrimp, I was using ounce and a half of weight with a 5 inch chartruese dodger and a hot pink hoochie also with shrimp. Both rigs were working but the hoochie was out performing the wedding ring. Wind died around noon but the rain persisted, fish kept biting, but the surface bite died. The hoochie still doing her thing. Uncle added weight and a hot little hoochie also. His was orange with orange smile blade and no dodger. That was the ticket, he started picking up fish right away. Since the wind died we started trolling up around the point from swofford bay heading east and started marking lots of fish. We both caught our limits and the silvers were between 12 to 18 inches. We caught a few dinks also but threw them back.
All in all a fabulous day spending time with Uncle W. next time though no matter what the weather man says we will bring our rain gear, luckily we had a half top on the boat and only our legs were soaked.
What a great lake and great times. Adios
