Decided in the early afternoon to take a trip out to Lake Samammish. This would have been a great idea, had we decided to go at about 8 am. By the time we got out to the boat launch on the Southeast side of the lake, we were quite a ways back in the line of boats and cars. I don't understand why they don't make a lane for boaters and a lane for people who are just going there to park. Might make things a bit quicker. Rangers were on site too, so it was nice to buy a $30 annual discover pass vs. paying for the $10 one from the machine.

The wife had decided to come along so that meant the catch of the day was going to be perch. We pulled off the launch into the lilly pads and went to work with a drop shot rig with a hook palomared onto it. Took about six seconds and we were in the fish. Did that for a couple hours and brought in maybe 10 or 15 fish. A fun little outing. Nothing substantial, all perch and one bluegill. If you're looking to take someone out and catch fish, this is the way to do it. Great for kids (and wives).

The weather was sunny and the water was warm. That's all I know about the ambient stuff. No bass on the pickup though. I tossed a rapala a few times and dragged a spinnerbait but couldn't get anything excited off our spot. Am yet to pick up a bass larger than 6" out of Samammish.
