finally the stars lined up and i made it over to rufus for 4 days of fishing. we fished thursday through sunday and had a great time getting fish to the boat each morning and being back at the launch before noon each day. the water temp was at 60* and there was very little flow in the river, but that didn't seem to slow down the catching much. we trolled a variety of offerings from wedding rings, to jigs, to flies, but seemed to have the best luck with a jointed rapala in perch. when fishing slowed up we'd anchor down from the lower pens to have a sandwich and finish off the day getting our limits on powerbait. our 2 biggest fish for the trip was one at 6lbs 10oz, and another at 6lbs 4oz. the rest of the fish were all below the 6lb mark. we did see some fellas fly fishing that seemed to be doing pretty well. one first we did see sunday was some game wardens came by in a boat checking catches, licenses, etc around the pens. i've never seen one here before, but it was kind of nice to see they were making their presence know around this remote area...

Hi ya Dave G, sounds like a fun filled trip for all. RW is a great place to spend a few days on the water, and sounds like you were busy catching fish. Not many places around where you can have such an adventure. Glad you were able to get out there and really appreciate the report. Boats down, so The reports keep me pumped for sure.
