The lake is Forbes lake, located in the Totem lake/Kirkland area. If you Google map it, you will find it about 3 blocks directly N. of the Costco in Kirkland on 85th street.
The lake has only two access points, and I would say that from those points you could only fish 1 person at each point. It is a wonderful lake though to fish from a float tube or kayak.

I put the tube in about 5:00 pm. right away on my second cast of a 4" dark Senko, wacky rigged, I was getting bites. The lake has about 90% of the shoreline covered in large lilly pads. There are a handful of areas that have very disperse smaller pads that looked great for topwater fishing. I did throw the frog around in the smaller pads, but no action had there. I switched up from the Senko, because I could tell the fish that were biting were a little small. Went to a drop shot rig, with a small "Finesse worm??" gotta google that, I think that was the ticket.
Immediatly caught a fat perch. Lots more hits on the drop shot, and I could have boated more fish, but felt there was a lot of activity and decided to try a lot of different setups. I fished some more what I think is finesse worms on a Texas rig. There was a cool little channel gap within the pad field, that went up to the mouth of an inlet/outlet stream. It looked like the perfect place for a largie to ambush something. So, I tossed the T-rig up there.... pause,,bam! fish on. not the largest bass, but it went 1.3lb. I had caught 3 other much smaller dinks and the perch, so this was very encouraging to see fish in various sizes around the lake. Some urban lakes seem to be all cookie cutter stunted largies. By the end of the night I was throwing a white and chartreuse spinner bait. I had multiple hits on this, but nothing quite large enough to commit.

The highlight of the night came when about 40' from my tube in the dusk hour a very large lmb came flying out of the water. I didn't get the best look, but I def. could see that it was a toad bass, and not a trout or perch. It was very encouraging. One other thing about this lake that is kind of cool. The city of Kirkland did a big project on building a wetland area on the direct East end of the lake 2 years ago. If you walk in that way from the main road, there is a small access area where you could put in a tube. But my point is, that in this area they sort of dredged out a marshy area.... from the lake. I am certain that it is connected to the lake, and if so... it would look like an ideal spawning ground in the Spring. It is shallow water, wood added into it, and just a place for the bass to seek out from the main body of water.
OK...so I gave up my secret lake.... but it is not much of a bank fishing lake, so I'm not concerned.

Hey Quad, Thanks for letting your "secret" lake out. Do you think your spinner bait hits were perch and/or crappie? Is the tube acces through Forbes Lake Park? I've been looking for some smaller crappie/perch lakes to try out.

As far as whether the perch were hitting the spinner bait or not... I sort of figured it was bass. I'm prob. the only person I know who has never caught perch. (maybe I accidentaly caught 2-3 ever) so I just don't have experiece with perch. For some reason I don't see them hitting a full size spinner bait. But after seeing this fat one, and reading some guys blog, I know the lake has a pretty good supply of perch. As far as dropping your tube in the lake, yes, you could go through that little wetlands area, which is prob. what you called Forbes lake park. The other access is if you park on the street where the entrance to that apartment complex is.... then walk in through the apartments. You go along a bushy greenbelt area.... and follow th edge of the greenbelt, back to a paved trail that goes down to the lake. There is a boardwalk at the lake, and it is all over grown except one area along the boardwalk where you can drop a tube in. I have never crappie fished before, so don't know about that option. Next time I'll have to bring some crappie jigs and check that out. Please let me know if you get out there, and how it goes.

Yes perch will eat spinnerbaits, I've caught them, crappy, and bluegill on spinnerbaits before. On Tanwax, Potholes, Sawyer, & Meridian.
