I've been fishing Samish Lake 2 to 3 times a week with my son since April. Fishing is good right now. We have been catching nice fat Kokanee from 10 to 12 1/2 inches. If you are looking for fun, these fish are fighters! We've been fishing fron 5 to 12 feet deep, with 2 colors of leaded line out with 40' of 10 lb ultragreen Maxima line, then a 4/0 dodger, then a red snubber, then 12" leader. Red or green wedding ring spinner works well, but I have the most success with a pink hoochie (mini squid) with every other skirt cut off and double size 6 red hooks and shoe peg corn. Flat lining with a 1/4oz weight works well also. The cutthroat are active but you cannot keep them. I've caught them up to 13". I've been finding Ergasilus (gill lice), a freshwater copepod on some of the Kokanee's gill area. I was a little concerned so I called the Northend fish biologist, he said that this posses no problem and the fish are safe to eat.
