Well after a much anticipated day we hit the lake about 6:30am. Water was at 53 degrees. We worked the lake very hard trying to locate a hot spot. Could see them feeding on top, sucking mosquitoes right down. Fish jumping all over. My partner George was trolling a small fly, he tried many different combo's but the green color seemed to work best. I started with my usual green and black, but after an hour with no takers I switched out to a silver blade and green beads, then switched to silver blade and red beads. George finally put one in at about 9am and I put one in about 9:30am. Only 2 bites we had. Then between 10-10:30 we started getting hits, I switched over to green and black. The water had warmed up about 2 degrees and that seemed to make a difference. From 10:30 to 11:30am we hooked up with 6 other nice fighting fish, but failed to put them in the boat. So the fish are in there, but don't seem to be hitting real early. This past week it has been dropping down into the mid 30's quite chilly. My advice is to start a little later in the morning, seemed to make a difference as the water warmed and they became more active. I think if we hadn't had to go to work we would have put a few more in the boat. We seen 3 others caught in that time frame, starting around 10. I'll be back out Sunday, but not quite so early.
