Started fishing about 1:30 pm and headed to the north end of the lake. It was a great day to be on the water, 65° with a 5 mph wind from the NE. There was a light algae bloom in the water. The water temperature was between 63-64° on the surface. Fish were marked at about 23 ft.

Caught two nice rainbows up by the farm implements, one 17" and the other 18". Both fought well and were released. I caught one other fish on that end of the lake that measured about 11".

About 4pm I moved to the south end of the lake and fished the shallows. Using floating line and a Hairs Ear soft hackle, I had two very strong strikes. One hit so hard and strong it broke my leader while trying to land it. Both were caught near the edge of the exposed weed bed in about 12 feet of water. This is a good indicator that the bigger fish are now starting to move into the shallows.

A very enjoyable afternoon.

Thanks for reporting! Agreed, the fishing gets really good in Fall.
I plan to drive from seattle next weekend and my fishing mentor (dad who's 82 yrs now) and I will be on Amber Saturday in the Portabote.
We use spoons mostly and have been doing very well. Last November the fish were big and feisty.
Thank goodness for this selective fishery.
