Sorry for the late report, was in the Methow Valley over the weekend and did some fishing. The water level at Patterson lake was about 8 feet lower than normal, and most of the good bass cover that was there last time was dry, so that wasn't an option. We also took a look down in the river, because it was open for steelhead and coho. Well the fish were there, my brother and I found a spot in the river where they were about 10 coho swimming against the current but they werent biting. Plus, I don't think the trout spinning rods and 6 pound mono we had brought with weren't going to hold up to one of them anyway.

Since niether of those were options, we headed up to Davis lake for a couple hours of fishing. Promising looks as we arrived, many fish jumping and a few others fishing. I decided to fish with marshmallows on the bottom, and my brother was going to use assorted spinners. About 15 minutes after we got there, my brother hooked up with one on a size 1 mepps spinnerbait but it spit the hook about 10 feet from shore. After that there were no bites for a while.

Somewhere inbetween here, another angler fishing near us hooked into a big rainbow, that snapped the line about 5 feet from shore. As far as I could tell, they were fishing with powerbait as well.

After about an hour of pretty much no action, I made a cast as far out as a could. I set it down on the stick I was using as a rod holder and went to sit down on a rock. Before I could get to my "chair" the tip of my rod started to go crazy, so I set the hook and pulled out a nice 12" rainbow. This process was repeated again in about 15 minutes.

By this time, my brother had switched several times to different spinners, and had settled on a brown trout finish rooster tail. 4 casts into this spinner, he hooks into a 13" trout. It jumped two or three times before he landed it. Fished for a little longer after that, but no more luck. Decided to wrap up and leave around 2:30; we had the trout for dinner, delicious!
