So just got back from another trip to Omak Lake. Weather has been staying the same up here, overcast with the sun peaking through occasionally. Surface temp was in the 59-60 range the whole morning. Wind was mild to medium at times. The bays were very calm and towards 11am - noon the wind got quite calm for a little bit there.

So this time around we went ahead and fished deeper water. Tried a few areas towards the south of the lake that seemed to have fish the trip before. No luck. After about an hour we headed from that area north along the east side and trolled through a few areas to a shallower bay and played around in the 15-20 depth water and had the down riggers set to all different depths. No luck but a bite or two.

We headed further north to another bay. Few hang ups on weeds because we're still scouting a lot of areas, but no bites.

Time started getting short so we headed back up to the mission bay. I used the cruising time to modify a mepps spinner with a single barbless hook. Got to use it while trolling through that bay on the way to loading up. Had one hookup just before the opening of the bay. A good healthy fighter but only about 16-17". Once we got inside the bay we played around with depths on the way to the dock, running over what appeared to be some big schools of fish. I was down around 40' and saw a school of fish above my downrigger depth so I raised it up 5 feet, wham. But it was just a bite.

And that was today :( Still trying to learn the lake but hopefully we'll figure out some secrets soon. I'm starting to think of the spots we've tried so far that the mission bay is by far the best choice. But maybe it's just the easiest, seems like a tricky lake compared to others.

Lures used were 4" kingfisher lite, rushin wobblers, 2" needlefish, mepps spinner in a small size.

Have you watched the Omak video we made last year?

We had over 50 fish that day... you should try to reproduce the gear we were using. It was very effective.

Corresponding Fishing Report for that video:

Yeah I've watched that video like 10 times haha. I'll try minnows and plugs this next time around if I can. I'll go watch it again and see if there's some details I missed. Thanks Aaron.
