It's cold, it's cold! Fall is here and the lake is holding on to a few degrees of summer. I know this because the rockbass haven't gone to sleep yet. There's a couple fish to be caught, and always the chance of a largemouth, or trout, especially the elusive brown trout. With the early sunset now, all my evening fishing is basically pitch dark with a headlamp.

I started out with a 4inch tube on a drop shot rig which got lots of bites but only one hook up. So i put a much smaller and thinner worm and started catching smallish rockbass here and there. Then i got this little surprise, a Cat Fish! I'm not really sure what kind. It was small, 6-7inches. I've never caught any sort of catfish before, so it was real treat to find something new, especially in my home lake.

Back to the water after the pic.

I need cold weather fishing gloves, brrr! Or a fishing trip to florida. (yes please!)

Yep, they just planted it with channel cats, you caught one of the new residents! IN a couple years they'll make for tasty table fare as long as folks don't catch and eat 'em when they're tiny.

Hope they survive in the warm lake.

Thanks for the report Pika. Chrome - catfish do great in warm water - they are one of the hardiest/toughest fish I have ever encountered in freshwater.
