Your reports have been great. I have a dumb question for you.

I see most of your fish are small for Lakers (but the very best eating size for sure). Is there a population of larger Lakers there or are the just so over populated that they tend to stay smaller?

Still, one of these days I have got to come up and fish with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As my wife would say, they sure look yummy.

Well there is some real Big Laketrout in our lake and I have caught some real Hawgs..My biggest laketrout this year weighed in at 29lbs 14oz..My all time Biggest laketrout weighed in at 30lbs. 15 oz. caught in 2007. The average year round size is around 5lbs. The Lakers that we are catching now are in amongst larger Laketrout that are in the spawning phase and the little laketrout are feeding on the loose eggs of the females. The smaller laketrout are real aggressive right now. The bigger Laketrout this time of the year are really not feeding so much because they are focused on spawning and not so much on feeding...Population of laketrout on Lake Chelan is high but are they over populated I really don't think so. Lake Chelan does hold the State Record at over 35lbs Is there a Bigger 1 than that in Lake Chelan ? I do have to say yes because I have had some really big fish on out there and I do expect someday I will get Walter!!! Thanks so much for commenting..

I want to be with you when you get Walter. LOL

You answered my answered just the way I hopped. I use to fish for Lakers at Blue Mesa, West of Pueblo Colorado, in the spring just after ice out with large flatfish, fished just under the surface (mid 80's). We would catch a few over 15#, but most were 5# or so. My biggest is only about 20#, but someday.....
