First time out in quite awhile, but things came together and Cindy and I put the boat in the water around 11-1130 AM. Headed up river to the lower most pens and fish around them casting jigs, spinners, and spoons. We didn't get any bites in this area. We didn't try fishing the bottom near the pens this trip, but may do so in the future. We fished back downstream as the sun was angling down in the sky. Caught fish in the cabin hole area, and on further on down lake in the pump one area. Smallish fish so C&R when appropriate, and ended up keeping 2 trout and one walleye for the fryer. The walleye was a incidental catch, and we worked the area really hard trying to pick up another one, but to no avail. The trout were 2# 3oz & 3# 11 oz, and the wallie was 4# 14 oz.
Caught fish over a scattered area, and did not find a consistent pattern. The wind was making the water rough in some areas, but still was nice to get out on the water.
Stay safe and respect the cold weather while on the water.

Loui you hit Rufus on the head with the scattering of the Triploids..It is interesting to me on how the bite changed just over a 7 day period..there has been 2 changes over this last week at Rufus that I have noticed- 1st the Flow, the dams have not been moving water which has made the Reservoir Crystal Clear and 2nd the water Temp has Dropped 5 degrees since last Sunday...Is this the reason why the Trips has spread out and the bite has slowed down? I can't say for sure but makes you wanna say HMMMMMMM:)

Hello basser90, walleye continues to be a challenge for me. With the help and advice of "several" WA Lakers, I have a better understanding of the fisherie, but struggle to make a consistant hook up on them. We sure love the taste of those lil buggers though.

Thank you Lundegard, It has been a busy and trying fall for us. We've had to make some rush trips back to our home state of MO, and other sundry happenings. We are looking forward to getting back on the water again. You and Yours take care and stay safe and well

Hey Joe, it sure is interesting how it can change so much in just a few days time. Water temps level out will help the bite, at least I'm hoping so. I' with you, makes ya say HMMMMMMMMMMM.

WooHoo! You're back on the water again! Sure have missed your fishing adventures/pics/reports at Rufus. Was just thinking about you and Cindy yesterday, wondering if it was time I offered you two a trip for some Rufus time. :-)

Nice incidental catch, and like you I really like walleye. You mention the cabin hole area, is that the Cabin by the River area? We didn't fish around that area when we camped there, but it sure looked like it might be productive.

Stay safe and warm! :-)

Hi ya Phil, the cabin hole I refer to is between pump 3 and pump 4. So way downstream from the Cabin by the river. Although I'm sure there are some good spots in the area of the Cabin by the river, we just haven't spent a lot of time exploring that section of the river. It sure feels good to get back on the water, and hope to see ya out there sometime. You and Debbie take care and stay safe
