For those individuals, a "WDFW vehicle access pass" will be required for vehicle access to WDFW lands and boat launches. WDFW will honor WDFW vehicle use permits that were purchased prior to July 1, 2011, on WDFW lands through March 31, 2012.

boat registration tax-$35
boat trailer tax-$15
general fishing tax-$23
discover tax-$30
I may have missed something. My point is it all adds up, I don't mind paying "fair share", but it gets a little out of control.
On a brighter note, That little guy was a heck of a fight. He was pissed off. He jumped 4 times doing the roll to try to spit the hook. He continued the fight on the bank, trying to make it hard to get my line back. I love winter trout. It was worth it.

12/24/2011 12:51:00 AMBeginning July 1, the Discover Pass is required for vehicle access or parking on Washington state parks and recreation lands. Note: Current Vehicle Use Permits will be honored on WDFW lands for the balance of the license year (through March 31, 2012).
Another kick in the nuts is that it is non-transferable and only good for one vehicle to which it is registered. So, I have to buy another license if I choose to drive in on another vehicle. BS.

12/24/2011 12:40:00 PMYour points and questions are all Valid ones. The most valid of them all is that it is B.S. They want to disguise their Taxes with pretty names to get us to just pay the fees without questioning the merrits, or forbid us, just not paying anymore taxes. They work for us. We pay their sallary.
I paid the $30 tax to avoid the $99 tax. I did not pursue the $11.50 day pass question as I live just down the street from a good portion of wdfw land requiring this new Tax, so I figure I'll just pay it and move on. Unfortunately, that's the attitude that allows for these kinds of taxes to take effect. If enough of us didn't pay it and move on then our wallets would do the talking, the state would lose revenue, and maybe get rid of tax out of necessity due to lost revenue.
