Well we just got home from the lake. This was the first time that either my son have fish Whatcom Lake. We hit the water late, about 9:00am. The weather started out pretty nice but soon started to rain lightly. We fished the West shore of the lake using leaded line & a variety of lures. The lure that worked the best for us was a Triple Teaser (red & black on one side with small dots of various colors & brass on the other side). We let out 3 colors & figured we were down about 15 to 20 feet. We fished in about 50 feet of water most of the time. The wind started to blow pretty good around 12:30 so we decided to call it a day at around 1:00pm. Total catch for the day was 8 Trout mostly in the 8" to 10" range, but a couple of nice ones that went 14". I think next time I go out to Whatcom I am going to take my downriggers along, we saw lots of fish down around 60'to 70'. If anyone has any tips for fishing Whatcom, I'm all ears. (HAPPY FISHING)
