Long time reader, first time report!
I bought a used boat last week and decided to see how she floats. Hit the water about 11:30am Saturday and began to troll a green wolley bugger. No action after about an hour and switched to an orange rooster tail. Trolling for another hour finally a hit! I get it to the side of the boat and realized I forgot to put my net in the new boat and then SNAP! Fish took off with my lure and leader. Fished a little bit longer and called it a day. One other guy had a 18 inch fish or so dragging a black wolley bugger. Stopped by walmart to grab another orange rooster tail and hit it again Sunday. started off using the orange rooster tail with lines in the water at 10:00ish. Nothing after an hour. Tried a black wolley bugger like the guy from Saturday. Nothing. Finally stopped to do some still fishing around the island with some chartruse power eggs and about 30 minutes in, BAM! FISH ON! Got it in the net and in the boat this time. 20 inch rainbow!!! Called it a day after that. Got back to the boat launch and a guy fishing from shore had a nicer fish than I. He was using shrimp flavored marshmellows. Another guy was bringing his boat in and had another fish about like mine. Not sure what he was using. Campbell lake has some big rainbows! What a great way to end the weekend.
