I headed out today to fish The I 82 ponds with my good buddy Craig Taylor of Bi Mart fame in Sunnyside. Todays weather and lunar rating bode pretty well for crappie fishing. I was estatic to see that my bro Joe Cortez of sunnyside Had Popped two 3 pound plus bass on an experimental "Jiggy Nymph" I made for him at Buena Pond #6! That Nymph was an untested prototype but those big bass nailed it! The trout in pond 6 lacked size so Craig and I headed for pond 4 instead. I had a tough go of it but luckily for me my friend Tom was there and he was scoring readily on 7-8" crappie. And after some adjustments and presentation tweaking Craig and I were into some decent crapps. Sensitive stick bobbers set at 3 feet and 1/32 oz and 1/64th oz "Jiggy Minnows" and Jiggy nymphs" in black/chartruse and natural/minnow were the ticket for 19 crappie from 1p.m. to 4:30. Tom had even more crappie in his bucket. 1" Gulp minnows played a role today too. Prime times lunar day rating was dead on for the peak bite times. Sorry my pics weren't turning out very well. Time to pick up a new camera! Jiggy
