Spent late morning, earlier afternoon at Quincy Lakes area today. It has been several years since I have been here. Brought new hunting pup "Sage" (age 6 months) with me for a little time out (on the leash) and a dip in the water. Hiked a ways on Quincy lake and saw a small cove with fish rising. I had on a green/black leech pattern from fishing other parts of the lake and immediately caught a nice fat 14" bow. Lost the fly, trying to land fish and keep pup back (she really wanted to see what this thing was on the end of line). Went to other side of cove, tied on an chironimid emerger and brought to hand two cookie cutter 14 inchers. Great day out, rated a 3 only because it took us while hiking around Burke and Quincy lakes before landing fish. Next trip, we'll let "Sage" get some boat time!

Must be a fair number of Quail in the area? What breed is Sage, pointer or flusher?

The area does look rather "birdy" MotoBoat. Possibly quail, sagebrush hiding pheasants (close to agriculture), and on the western edge, the scab rock looks like decent chukar habitat. That is why I had her on the leash as I did not want to disturb any nesting birds. I have not hunted here, but saw a sign for non-lead shot only, so assume it is open in the fall. I will check the regs. Anyone else know about hunting Quincy Lake area?, realizing this is a fishing forum, :)

Sage is a pointer and is showing promise as a pup (as young as 7 weeks even). She is 3/4 Wirehair Pointing Griffon and 1/4 German Wirehair. I am really enjoying her... a great pup!
