Not the day that I'd hoped for all week long. The wind on the water was bad, with frequent periods of rolling waves and for much of the time, the cloud was thick enough to require a sweatshirt. A shallow-trolled orange wedding ring with worm and power bait didn't get a bite. The fish finder couldn't locate them deeper either. I switched over to trying for perch and crappie along the southern shoreline, but had no better luck there either. I tried jigging, floating worms from the surface, and up just off the bottom. Not even a bite, though at least for these, pockets of fish were visible on the finder. Just about everyone I spoke with was finding the same thing, though one guy and his son had managed to land 3 nice thick rainbows about 15 inches long! Way to go! The lake has been a tough one lately, but it remains one of my favorites.
