I got off work early today so I decided to take my 3yr old daughter to try for some perch since there were big schools swimming around the docks at the launch. We got to the lake around 6 and with out much effort she had reeled in her first fish all by her self. We used worms under a float about 2-3 ft. We lost many at the dock in the air and got to in the floating basket. Stayed until 7:30 the bite had stopped and so did the little ones interest. We took two home not being able to talk her out of leaving them for later. All in all it was a great fun day and I think one she will never forget.

Way to go, that is so cool, I had meant to mention the large school of perch in my Lake Stevens report from Saturday but... you have a fisher-person for life!

There is nothing in this world that compares to a Dad sharing his love of fishing with his little ones. Thanks for such an inspiring report brother! jiggy

Thank you. when I got home today she was wanting to go again. I did learn a few things that day. We need to work on casting and the potty just isnt close enough to the dock at the boat launch in town. You also want some sharp hooks getting them hooked was a little work.

Took my daughter to the launch at wyatt park, taught her how to use a slip bobber at wyatt the at about 15 feet and wright off the bottom caught 20 kept 8. Why is lake Stevens one of the only places that charg you 7 dollors to fish off the dock (they surly dont need the money anyway if you wonder what to do with all those perch try fisy tacos my kids love them

Bigslash21, on the other side of the lake your parking pass lets you park free and just up from there is another dock behind the library. Ive never used wyatt park. Im not sue who owns it. Good idea to do tacos.

Way to go dad! I'm the way I am cause my grandpa use to take me down to the Log Boom dock on Lake Washington almost every day of my summer break to catch perch. I still love to catch them, and will skip a day of steelheading to go after perch now and then. We went out for Kokanee on Sunday, but when I saw all those perch by the dock, I couldn't help myself so we caught some of those before heading out to troll the lake for Kokes.
Great way to get the little ones fishing!
