Started at 7 am to try out my buddy's new Phenix rod from Limit Out Marine. Decided to focus my whole morning (3hrs) on learning how to fish Left Handed due to my bum arm. Threw a Swimbait instead of Flipping, and after an hour and a half landed this 3# 4oz Smallie. WAS AWESOME!!! Dude came tearing out out from under a dock (he was staging, see the rediculas belly). He hit my Swimbait soo hard he bent it in half in his mouth, did a one-eighty, and tore for his dock. THANK GOD I had that 7'6" Med-Heavy rod with 17lb. Izorline. I paid two bucks to have the line put on at Aub. Sports. I wrapped that line around docks, trees, pilings, and even scraped a concrete wall. ZERO knicks or cuts on the line. Anywhoo...I didn't even care that fishing was slow. Very overcast, bit cold, water was 59.5 and the rain started about 10am. Fish was under about an 8ft deep dock??? Was fishing aboput 8" deep.
