Using a 1/4-oz. silver Acme Kastmaster slab-jig, I fished for 2-1/3 hours from the northwest bank of West Medical Lake. After it hit the water, I counted down 7 seconds and then jigged it sideways back to shore (twitch-reel in slack-twitch again-reel in slack, etc.). The trout catch the lure when it flutters downwards (like a leaf) between twitches. I was fishing just past the first Ponderosa Pine tree on the northwest side of the lake, about 3/4 mile south of the parking lot. There were lots of people fishing with bait from the shore, but they were not catching much. I kept my first fish (a nice 16-1/2" Rainbow) to eat for dinner tonight. Using "Catch and Release", I brought a total of 10 fish to the shore (only two of which were ~16" in length) and lost 5 more fish when the "got off" when I was reeling them in. I noticed that boat trollers were doing OK. The trout apparently wanted to hit SOMETHING MOVING, and were not interested in bottom bait today.
