We used hammered silver walleye spinner rigs and casted them by using an egg sinker, red bead, then swivel, then clipping on a walleye rig. It was amazing. We stopped counting fish when the four of us got to 230(!) fish. We released all but 18. Best day of fishing ever. The fish preferred night crawlers, but almost anything worked.

Sounds like you had a fun day but my guess is you're about to get a bunch of advice on the regulations. I'm not a trout expert but I think there's something in the regs about keeping trout that have been caught while using live bait like nightcrawlers. I could easily be wrong though.

We kept the ones caught with live bait. That is why we threw artificials of every kind out. By the rules any fish caught with live bait has to be counted as part of your limit whether you release it or not.

They went crazy for black and silver robo worms. We pinched them in half and hooked them up that way. They even bit plain hooks with no bait at all. I have never seen fish do that. Black berkely leaches, power minnows in every color, grub bodies, you name it. Red hooks, gold hooks, yellow and green spinners, blue smile blades, etc. I would love to know why they were so hungry. It was like they hadn't eaten in weeks.
The places we liked best were off of the boat launch to the right, maybe 100 yards, or less, and about the same distance out. There is a double contour area like two underwater bays. We spotlocked right above the ridge between them and fished the drop offs all around us. It was madness. I also dropshot fished and caught the largest one of the day. It was 2.5lbs. No lunker, but a great fight. I had on a goby for that one.
