I can't believe you read other reports on this lake and still post that you caught kokanee. Misidentification of fish diminishes the quality of your report. All you have to do is post salmon rather then kokanee when you file your report and mention land lock coho to be specific. I realize it may not be important to you but misinformation is contrary to the point of sharing ACCURATE info. on a fishery for this site.i tried to keep this in a p.m. but you are evidently not set up to receive them.bob r

im going to the lake this weekend and a newbe to kokanee and im a shore fisher throw it out and wait what kind of bait should i use and where is a good spot for that im takeing my 7 yr old duaghter out for her first time fishing and my 5 yr old nephew for his first time also so any pionters would help thank u tight lines

Dontknowanything, I would go to the dam fishing area, off of highway 12. Either worms or shrimp work great for bait. There are some rocks you can fish off of. That might work good for the little ones. If there is room I would go down to the end of walkway and get out on the rocks. There are some other rock areas, but you have to climb over a wall.

dontknowanything, if I was fishing the area with a 5 and 7 year old I would fish the Mossyrock side of the dam. It would be a lot safer for the kids and give you some room to spread out. The walkway at the Hwy 12 side can get crowded and if you go over the wall, there can be some sharp drop offs. On the Mossyrock side it is the same type of fishing but for the most part there is kid friendly slope to the shoreline and much more room to spread out there. I'm not am expert on the Mossyrock area but to get there you take the main drag out of town; Mossyrock Road E to Ajlune Road then turn left on Youngs Road and then go straight onto Switchback Lane and around left corner onto Onion Rock Lane, at the 5 way intersection make a sharp right onto an un-named road to the dam area. Good luck catching Riffe Lake silvers and keep the little ones safe.

what depth were you fishing. did you need downriggers? I haven't trolled here before and want to try. thanks for the report
