I took my boys out for a drive and hopefully a chance to fish. We went to Bear lake in Yakima county. It is in an area called the oak creek wildlife area and it is fairly scenic, with a pretty little rushing stream in a river valley and many changes of vegetation zone. After wasting about an hour on an atrocious jeep track due to bad directions from google, and getting sidetracked at some ponds which are not the lake, we finally found Bear lake around 2:00. Unfortunately there don't seem to be more than 1 or 2 fish there, even though the WDFW site says it was stocked, and the fish I did see were small, around 6 inches. Most of the lake is still iced over, and maybe they're hiding under the ice, but as far as I can tell it's a waste of time to drive out here to fish. It is fairly scenic, but not worth the effort, especially with all the litter and it will probably be mobbed with hordes of cowboys and partiers for the rest of the season, so I don't recommend it.
