THURSDAY: so got a call my the Inlaws from hawaii to check thier lake house at st. clair, I say yes w/out thinking for the fact that its lake house,water is just right in the backyard and when I'm around waters all I can think of is fishing for sure.This reminds me of the last time the family was able to visit at the lake and try targeting those blue gills so my son can enjoy it too.but for some reason for the whole afternoon i just couldnt get them to bite we only caught 1 fish and my son is more interested on getting him self wet than catching fish.

FRIDAY: so got so excited but gotta go to work first on my break time got a chance to go online and ask the fellows on this site for advice how to catch this lil buggers since I'm kindda new on fishing too thanks mark@sea for helping me understanding a very simple common sence on this fishes LOL.so learn not to use the whole worm and that is what i did on the last trip.so 2:30 comes time to get off from work with knowledge i learned cant wait to get there.my wife and kids pick me up and start the journey from seattle to st. clair.and boy thatw as a long drive good thing where statying for the weekend.Finally got to the lake round 5pm get started with the chores and started fishing.

FISHING TIME: the first cast I did not even a minute whammmm got a fish on and boy my son and daugther was leaping for joy when they saw the fish and fish after fish after fish finally when i think i had enough I give the pole to my 3 year old son and he was nailing it like a pro and to my suprise my son can tell wich one is pregnant i mean hes only three years old when he caught one fish he will look at it and say "papa that mama,put back in water hurry lil fishes inside hurry" it just melt my heart and get the fish back to the water as fast as I could.so when my boy was finally got enough too I ask my wife to try it she hasnt fish yet before or like ever,just for being impetient person she dont like fishing,but this is a diffrent day so she said yes hand her the rod show her how to cast and Im pretty amazed she got the technique really fast and when shes starting getting bite she just starting screaming I ran to hear and find out she just caught a large mout bass and dont know what to do I would say a 2ld bass,but i cant belive she was able to catch a bass before me its really bum me for a bit but to see her getting in to fishing Im all good.so she got tires from blue gill so she wanted to cast to the deeper water so she did and bout 2 min. waiting the bobber just went down really hard she reel it in and give a big fight its started to get me woner what on the end of the line and finally she reeled in the fish and it was the biggest baddest blue gill i have ever saw(well i just started fishing like last year), she was so happy and I think she is hook on fishing now.

CLOSING TIME: so finally its getting dark out the kids are already went inside for a bath and hot coco,while I was cleaning up out little mess I found that I still got three worms left so decided to hot them all and cast on,I figured since this is a private area i might as well just leave my line in the water while i gather everything back to the house and when i came back out i could see my bobber anymore thinking its just another blue gill I want in a rush to check it but when I notice my rod was bouncing up and down i figure it must be a diffrent fish ran to gab my rob before it bounces to the water i reeled it in and to my suprise its a rainbow trout,i was like what theyre here too(the house was located at the very corner of the lake a small corner that small fish can congregate taht when you cast too far your line will end up at you neighboors backyard).so next time i'll be targeting tout.

So over all it was an experience and a very good memories,got some fish,got my wife into fishing and my kids are too. I've been trying to upload photos but im writing my report using my droid dont really know how to upload I tried many time but it just wont come up. But ill keep trying.

Many of us taking fishing very seriously......I think sometimes too seriously. Kind of reminds me of a spin off of a credit card commercial. Bassboat, $50,000, fishing gear, $5,000. Fishing off a dock with a simple fishing pole, bobber and worms, catching bluegill with the wife and kids......priceless!! Your report reminds us of what "fishing" is all about. Great family memories that will last a lifetime Thanks for sharing them with us. It was well worth reading.

nice report and great family fun, i noticed you fry your fish hole and not filleted do just scale them and clean them, i have not tried that method, maybe you recover more meat ??

yah just clean the guts and all,scale then really good salt and pepper and fry them,in a hurry kids getting tired and hungry and papa too,no time to fillet.its good, fast and lots of meat saved,hard part eating is the bones but I grow up in where fish is everyday meal,so no problem with me, but i have to pick the meat for the kids tho dont want them to get in trouble.

Great thing about fishing at St. Clair - based on the state regs there is NO LIMIT - on Crappie, northen pikeminnow, perch, sunfish, bullfrogs and other fish. I want to thank you for bring back fond family memories on Banks Lake.
