Fished Moses Fri. afternoon (4:30pm-9:00pm), Saturday morning (5:30am-10:00am) and Saturday afternoon (4:00pm-9:30pm). May 25th-26th. Tough weekend with it being a holiday,...lot of recreation jet-ski's, and ski boats. Combat fishing near any of the parks,...especially up near Cascade Landing. Anyway, just me and my 14 year old son,...for whom I'm still teaching the technique. Extremely windy Fri./Sat., but died down afternoon on Sat. mid-day. We landed 12 walleye total; all in the 10-13ft. depths along the rocky shoreline where the wind was pounding up against all day. These fish are all "cookie-cutter" in size,...16"-20",...but all fat and healthy. My young son had his share of trouble figuring it out, or we would have done a little better, but he's getting a little better each time. Up near the 90 bridge along the hotels, and then along the weed line from Airman Beach to the flats. Found that .05-1.0 mph. with a slow-death hook threaded with a nightcrawler and a purple or blue smiley blade worked best. We also picked a couple up between Goat Island (off the rocks) and the little marsh island. I used a UV glow bead with a sparkle-chartreuse green smiley-blade at dark and it seemed to produce well. We tried crawler harnesses, Mack's walleye pop rigs for a while and just couldn't get them to produce like the slow-death rig. That slow action really worked well. Like the lake,...but not on Memorial Day weekend!
Here's the a bent rod and tight lines!!!
