The trips are the best but you have to be lucky to catch them. There are some real nice people you meet on the docks. Listen close and pay attention to their tips it can help you become a better Fisherman and a friend.

sorry for being dense, a Trip is a Triploid? And how can you tell what you have?

Do not consider yourself dense, to me, this website is also a great learning tool. But size is a huge indicator!! I've puled out some 13"+ trout, but I don't think they were "trips". I would guesstimate right now, more likely 15" bare minimum to 20"+. The fact that they are sterile and just want to eat gives them extraordinary metabolism to grow real fast, and get fat!! Give them a couple of month, they will be HUGE!!
