Okay, right off I want to say, not actually Eagle Lakes, but nearby, and a friend introduced me to it and asked I not reveal the spot. No exactly a "secret" lake, but one you can figure out with diligence. I previewed the report with my friend and he okayed it. That being said:
2 of my teen grandsons foolishly challenged me to a mini-tournament, loser having to give up a day to chores of the others' choosing. I may have been manipulated into taking them fishing, but I can't be sure. We went to a lake known to have high numbers, but no real size. As in tournaments, C&R. Numbers only, no size since there would be no weigh-in. This lake lived up to its legend. The boys will be helping grandad on a yard landscaping project he has put off for some time. While a reasonably skilled angler, my true gift is in procrastination. The biggest fish was only about 4lbs, and most were true dinks (I mean keepers {under 12"}), but when final numbers were in, in 7 hours fishing the score was teens 132, aged to perfection anglers 193. This lake is open enough we were always in each others sights, and I'm pretty sure they were keeping an eye on me so our count would match. Knowing these 2, I trusted their count.
The funny part is, they want to do it again soon. Double or nothing. We need to give this poor little lake a rest, but I'll probably take 'em up on it.... After the bet is paid!
The elder of the 2 caught the smallest fish of the day, a 1" bass that impaled its mouth on the hook.

Most fish were on small perch colored topwater, Mepps, or Jiggy lures. My thanks to Jiggy's lures for topping out my catch and providing me with 2 free laborers.
Interestingly, we caught no other species. Don't even know if there are any others.

And lest I forget, Happy Father's day. Take a kid fishing. They really are better than worms!
