Hit Offutt yesterday morning, going for some of the triploids that were stocked the week of March 19. The lake is absolutely full of algae right now, the water looks almost muddy in some parts. Tried trolling, throwing spinners, and finally still fishing.. I caught one 8 inch rainbow on a rooster tail and finally at about 1100 am I hooked into a nice 15 inch triploid. On green power bait of all things.
The girls at the resort said that the bite is picking up around noon on warm days so don't go early. Try to find clear spots in the algae ( good luck) and float power bait about 2 feet of the bottom. The action is very slow but the trout are fat and they fight like hell. Also, the resort has been releasing about 2000 fish a week from their private pen, mostly 8-9 inchers.
