I snuck in an hour on Bitter after work. Wife thought I was still working, lol. 3rd cast i picked up a 3.2 lb largie. I thought that was pretty cool, so early on. I always start off at the overhang of concrete across from the park. For those who get on the water, you will know that there are 3 sort of concrete bunkers. 3 10' square areas where the concrete is over the water, and leaves sort of a little dark room, only accessible by tube or boat, etc.
I always cast to it from about 30' out, and don't usually get my bait way up in there... Anyway, I was about 10' from the bunker. Pitched a green 5" Senko way up in there. Bam! fish hit. Got him in, and had the realization that I should consider a different net when bass fishing. He was a little hard to direct into my wooden style trout fly fishing net. Anyway, quick on the scale, 3.2lb , release. Covered a little more water, and picked up a 12" 11 oz. dink lmb.
That made for a quick hour on the water, and worth it.

Bitter is getting some attention. Is that your personal best for Bitter? I have tossed stuff up inside the "bunker". gets shallow in there. I have only caught rock bass from under there, You had mentioned a sewage sign that was removed from the park side of the lake? There are some "sewage" computer printout paper signs, attached to a telephone pole on 137th?? (The perimeter road on the North side of the lake). The information is hard to read, due to the condensation build up inside the clear plastic protective sleeve. Does say the plumbing "issue" has been repaired. The lake has been cleaned up. The fish are protected by scales and mucus (slime) covering.

Moto.. I had two fish from bitter in years past that I believe were 4-5 pounds. But this was the best for awhile. I actually had that Feb. cold water bass that weighed 3lb and some oz. I've fished Haller twice in the past 2 weeks. That lake has more and more perch every year it seems. Tons of hits to my bass gear by perch, and I'll see them, and I caught one. Caught a couple of less than 1lb largies from Haller so far this year. Had one big fish 4-5lb largie probably going back 4 years now at Haller.
A guy at the launch/park tells me that he sees a "Very large bass" at the launch shallows every afternoon. (with his hands held far apart)

I have fished Bitter so many times in the past 5-7 years that I have come to really be sick of it. It's just a matter of convience. I wish I had another lake that was so close.

I was wondering why the net.? I lip all my bass. Only use a net if I get a wiggly trout. But good report and sounds like a good hour of fun.
