Fished from shore along the Fremont side of the Ship Canal for a few hours this afternoon. It rained on me intermittently, but it was warm enough that I didn't mind. I had enough strikes throughout to feel like I was getting some action. Landed a couple of dink smallmouth, and then right as I was leaving I caught a smallmouth big enough to put up a decent fight. Had a couple of people watching as I landed that one. That's always fun.

Had success with a large chrome spoon. Also tried fishing a weightless Senko for a while, and watched a decent size bass go after it a few times. Could not get it to bite, but that still provided some excitement. Talked to quite a few curious people passing by. They all seemed astounded you can catch fish in the canal.
