long time viewer, little time reporter.. so here we go.. :)
We finally got a break in the rain this weekend and a chance to get out and test out the new to our family, Boat. So my son and i headed to Ballinger around 3pm for a couple hours of trolling around. Being new to trolling for trout all i had was a couple wedding rings i had never used in my tackle box. So we rigged those up and got our troll on. the weather and wind were calm so trolling around was actually pretty nice. I got to test out the trolling motor and figure out how to untangle all the line i twisted up in it when i wasn't paying attention to my lines and my sharp turn.. that was fun! after getting the nest out we were under way again.. fishing was slow but crusing around was nice... we pulled up on the north side of the lake and dropped anchor to hang out there and fish, we started to reel our lines in when wham! the boys line gets hammered by a MONSTER 7" trout! this beast shook its head a couple times then took a leap and soon was to the boat.. this was a happy moment and we needed to get our 1st fish on the new boat to make sure there wasn't any bad juju attached to it ;).. So, we cast and reel here with mepps spinners for a bit longer with no luck and then mom calls on the phone to ring the dinner bell.. time to go! so we trolled out and headed home.. it was a short outting, we caught a fish, and we got a little more time in the boat to get used to it.. all in all an excellent time.. always happy to spend quality solo time with my boy too.. you wont see me post a report with out at least one pic.. so here is the boy and his fish.. :)

Great way to christen a boat, and yes, learning to maneuver a trolling motor on turns takes a little bit of practice,..enjoy!!

I wouldn't fish if it were ever "not fun". Catching fish is just the bonus part... ;)

Nice job oneshot - the boy has your eyes... What kind of boat did you end up getting?

Gringo, i was waiting for someone to comment on my art work.. haha.. not so comfortable throwing my sons face out there.. for obvious reasons, i don't want all the girls to start breaking down our doors.. :P

i got a 14ft Lowe modded V-nose.. a lot of flat bottom with V up front.. nice and stable with casting deck up front already.. just starting to use it and learn about boating! i still have lots of setting up to do and things to buy.. but it came with trailer, trolling motor and 20hp outboard and some other misc stuff..
