Got to Badger around 2pm today, started off by jetting across from the boat launch and throwin' some crankbaits. About 20 minutes later I hooked what i believe was a Small mouth. He jumped up out of the water, basically threw a live crawdad into my canoe(still had a claw under my battery) and wiggled off my hook. That was pretty funny.

The next two hours were filled with LMB ranging from 5" to 8".

Decided to test out some jiggin', I havn't done that before. Found a decent area hooked up a white jig with some corn and dropped her down about 30'. 15 minutes later I hooked my first Cutthroat Trout (see picture), 14" 2 pounds, beautiful fish. She squirted some eggs in the boat before i tried and tried releasing her. She wouldn't swim away so we had to keep her.

After that i decided to hook up my smaller spinner bait and test my luck towards some weeds, I kept getting little nibbles but couldn't stick anything until.. BAM! This 16" 3 1/2 poundish LMB. For sure the best one i've ever caught.

Great day.

Cutthroat has some purdy markings on it. Nice that you tried and tried to release it.

Enjoy them now. I have heard from a good source that Badger will be killed out next year to remove the Bass.

Hm, I did read how they (bass) were illegally planted. That kind of stinks that they want to get rid of them, whats the closest lake to Spokane for Bass? Did i read correctly there are some in Medical?

How do they go abouts killing out a lake i wonder? All fish or just that one species?
