A beautiful day Sat, slight overcast, no wind, and tolerable temps. After finishing a Yard Project, Cindy and I loaded up the boat for an evening trip to Roses. We envisioned mirrow flat water, beautiful sunset, and Hungry fish. When we pulled into the launch area on Roses (around 2:30ish) the water was all we dreamed with just a hint of a breeze to make the temp enjoyable. While we were launching, a youngster (who was fishing off the dock with about 10 other people) pulled in a yellow perch 9-10 inches long. Things are looking up. We finally get the boat in the water, and use the bow mount to pull us down along the shoreline. we were picking up some pumpkin seeds and small crappie as we made our way down to the Bluegill "hotspot". We switched from fishing the reeds to jigging in 10-15 feet of water, the fish started getting more size on them. The breeze had kicked up a notch or two by this time, and the fish were cooperating. As we get near the lower (south) end of the lake, there were some thunderstorms crossing Stormy and uplake was dark. No probs, it was going around us. Well the slight breeze moved on and the wind kicked in. what few boats that were on the lake headed to the launch. Still no worries, we just drifted over to the reeds and let the waves hold us there until it blowed over. Wrong, the waves were white capping and had grown to about 2 feet, and coming broadside made for a rocking good time. After taking a break, and snack, we decided to explore the other side of the lake as the wind had eased off a bit. As we puttered up along the east side we noticed a few spots behind points of reeds that were fishable, so back at it. We fished the quieter areas and picked up some nice Yellow Perch and some crappie to 10 inches, but no keeper Bluegill. Because of the high wind and heavy wave action, we weren't able to fish the areas that usually produce for us, but it was a good time on the water. We ended up keeping 13 Yellow perch and a few crappie. Enough for a couple of nice fry-ups. Tight lines and sharp hooks

Nice adaptability. The mark of a true fisherman. Nice fish fry! This time of year I end up wishing I lived closer, but then other times compensate, especially midwinter. Some time ago I caught several cats out of Roses.

If memory serves there is a point near the NW end that drops of fairly fast that was a daytime spot, and an evening spot where there is a more gentle slope near the SE shore. If memory doesn't serve, just ignore me. I think my biggest out of Roses was near 10, but it's been a while. Most were fairly small eating size. They had good flavor for a lake that is only moderate depth.

Thanks Mr Dog. Cindy, my fishin partner and cheif cook around here, took the fillets, salted them lightly, and tossed them in the wok with a bit of herb flavored "wok oil". then followed the perch fillets with some fresh sliced/diced veggies. MMMMMMM MMMMMMM good. I had hoped for leftovers to take for my lunch the next day. Nix that. I polished them off for dinner. LOL Good eats for sure.

Appreciate the comment fC, Over the course of a year, there are lots of cats pulled from Roses. need to target them sometime just to see, But It's hard for me to stay that focused on cats when there are fish lips willing to kiss a hook. LOL
Take care and stay safe out there
