I have no idea if it applies. But that recent life vest law taking affect. The one where if your within so many feet of the rivers edge a life vest is required. Not saying the canal is a river., but is long, narrow, and has constantly moving water from the filling of the locks down stream. In that respect, that rule may or may not apply and merely mentioning it here as a precaution for the young one.
