North is still producing for being so late in the season. Headed out after I got off of work and was on the water around 5 or so. We got our lines wet and not even 2 minutes later my gf had a fish pulling line hard. It looked like a nice sized RB (13" or so) but it managed to spit the hook when we put the net in the water. Action was pretty constant with either bites or fish in the boat every 10-15 mins. We stayed til about 8 and had 6 in the boat and many more that got off on the way in. Saw plenty of other people out there, both boats and shore fishers, but didn't see anyone else pull anything in. Everyone else was still fishing/bait casting, while we were trolling. We marked plenty of fish out there too, many of which seemed to be schooled up in groups of 3 or more. The key this late in the season is to target them deep. Marked all fish within 5 feet from the bottom with a few around 10 feet from the bottom. I was using a chrome dodger with green wedding ring/chrome blade with a little power bait attached and action was constant. I got one decent sized RB that measured 14" and just pulled line for days, gave me a fight on my ultralight. My gf was using a flasher set up with red wedding ring/chrome blade and power bait but had a little less action. We both had a few split shot before the flasher/dodger to get the presentations lower and had about 45-50 pulls of line out. Action is still good if you know how to get at them. Good luck and tight lines!
