Hiked up to Wallace Lake, not a bad hike! Kudos to Natetreat for hiking up there with a boat on his back! Got sort of a late start but got up there in just under 2 hours. Its obvious the lake is hardly fished. The monster cutthroat would bite almost immediately. We were catching cutthroat between 10 and 16inches. Oddly enough despite their size they hardly fought, but some of the bigger ones would dive down to the bottom and end up getting wrapped around submerged logs. Seriously guys if you like a bit of adventure, take the hike and go to Wallace lake. The place is beautiful, and the lake has a healthy population of fish, you wont be let down. Unfortunately there is no camping on the lake, but we did find a camping sign pointing down a trail towards the upper falls, so you might be able to camp within a short hike of the lake. I will explore this more thoroughly next time. The lake is definitely worth your time, also saw a fuzzy black bear on the way back down on the old railroad grade trail, so we decided to back track and go down the woody trail. Its always fun to run into those guys. Also some of the cutthroat we caught were light brown and some were identical to rainbow trout (besides the longer jaw and a very light red slash.) Maybe two different species? Or inter breeding?
