Another cool bright blue sky morning. When I go to the ramp, it was 55 degrees. Started off trolling an orange Apex spoon thing behind my Dick Nites dodger. 20 mins in and I get my first bite and fish on! A little 12" cutt-throat.
I keep going in the same direction and 30 mins later, fish on! Looked to be a 12" rainbow.
I turned around and go back the opposite way. No bites at all. So I circle around and tie on a pink spinner thingy that looks kinda like a wedding ring. Not bites on that either.
I go across to the west side of the lake and start trolling with a red wedding ring. I get 1 bite on it but didn't stick. I also appear to have an issue gauging depth with the lead core. I thought I had a pretty decent idea, but my lure started dragging on the bottom.
I was in about 50' of water and came up to a point which went up to about 42' of water. I was estimating my lure was in the 25-30' range area, but apparently I hit the bottom at 42'. Or maybe there was a tree down there. I don't know for sure....
By now, it's getting pretty hot out and I know my battery is getting low. Also lots of ski boats now. So I circle around and tie on an orange spinner thingy with a squid. I get a solid strike but fish didn't stick.
I keep going and I'm almost on the east side of the lake again and I get another solid strike with fish on! 15" rainbow.
I continue on trolling downwards until I got near the ramp with only 1 more bite, even though I was marking plenty of fish.
When I go off the water, it was 89 degrees. All my lures were used behind the Dick Nites dodger. I believe that's how you're suppose to do it right? lol
