Thought I’d post a quick report about my time fishing during the annual Cast for Kids event on Lake Washington. After being paired up with my young guest and his family we left Gene Coulon and ran up the East Channel to one of my favorite perch spots and anchored in about 18 feet of water. The action was immediate and steady with the larger perch coming from the deeper side of the boat. A chartruse colored curly tailed grub tipped with perch meat was the most productive setup. I kept 10 of the larger fish we caught (the cutting board in the pic is 12” x 20”) for the fryer and released the remainder. After a little more than an hour of fishing we picked up our gear and went for a cruise to check out various sights on the lake and the large floating cranes working the new 520 bridge construction. The weather was perfect for the event and made for a wonderful time on the water and picnic afterwards. If anyone is curious or interested in helping out with any future events, I encourage you to check out the Cast for Kids web site at: http://www.castforkids.org/ If you'd like some first hand info regarding the event, you can always PM me with questions.
