Went on a four day backpacking trip to Colchuck AUG 21-24. my girlfriend and I fished the end of the lake nearest Aasgard pass. We both threw black rooster tails, and after letting them sink almost to the bottom retreived them at a fast pace. The fish hit all day long everyday, morning, noon, and evening. We caught rainbow, cutts, and some beautiful cutt-bows. The markings on all the fish were amazing so bright and colorful, they looked like a painting. Over the four days we caught around 30 fish between the two of us, with my girl out fishing me AGAIN both in total number and largest fish. Fish ranged in size from 8-16 inches. We both used super light weight collapsible rods which made those feisty fish feel like monsters, we even had a few jump for us. We released all except 4 which we cooked up with some couscous for a tasty dinner. The hike, scenery, and fishing was great, and I am so lucky to have such an amazing girlfriend to share it with. I highly recommend taking a trip up there.

that looks like a lake to add to my short list. Are there many camping spots around the lake?

Mike, once you get to the lake follow the trail towards Aasgard pass. Campsites are off the trail and some are hidden, but plenty of spots to camp. Early in the morning there is zero wind and you can see a perfect reflection of the surrounding mtns on the water. It's amazing.

Sounds awesome! And there is nothing better with fish than couscous!
