Off work early, so I headed to Green Lake for a little "bonus" fishing. Arrived at the southeast side (65th St. pier) at about 2:00PM. Already two others fishing on the pier. Air temp was 59 degrees, and water temp at 10' was 60 degrees, steady breeze blowing from the east. Shortly after I arrived, one of the other fishermen reeled in a nice Rainbow of about 13", using worms and marshmallows. I was using chartreuse Power Eggs... About 2:30 another fisherman joined us for a brief spell, then left without getting a bite. About 3:30 the other fisherman reeled in a Rainbow of about 14"... using chartreuse Power Eggs... shortly after, they both left, taking a stringer of five Rainbows they had caught since morning. About 4:00 I had a strong bite, but no hook-up... about 4:15, "fish-on" and reeled in a feisty Rainbow of 13". These fish are glorious in their prime condition, and great fighters too. As the afternoon wore on, the breeze turned into a steady wind from the north, that brought a definite chill with it. Watched a fly-fisher in a float-tube paddle by, but did not see him with any hook-ups. Saw no fish on the surface. Did try spin-casting for a while before leaving, but no takers on that! Great way to unwind from the workday, love being on the water! Left the lake about 5:00, as darkness was approaching... afternoons are definitely getting shorter!!! PTL!
